New Tool Reimbursement Scheme for Apprentices and Trainees
Apprentices and trainees in Western Australia may be eligible for up to $2,000 in reimbursements under a new support scheme. Those who commence their apprenticeship or traineeship between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2029 can claim a $1,000 reimbursement for work-related tools and safety equipment.
An additional $1,000 reimbursement is available upon completion of training within the same period, helping ease the financial burden and support successful training outcomes.
If you start your apprenticeship or traineeship between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2029, you may be eligible for a reimbursement of up to $1,000 to help cover the cost of essential tools or safety equipment.
A second reimbursement—also up to $1,000—is available once you successfully complete your training within the same timeframe.
To apply, log in to the CTF Portal(opens in a new tab) to register and start your claim.
You'll need to upload a tax invoice or receipt for any work-related tools or safety equipment you've purchased, along with your bank account details. Once your claim is approved, payment will be transferred directly to your bank via EFT.
Each person can claim up to $1,000 at the start of their apprenticeship and another $1,000 upon completion. You’re welcome to submit multiple claims for different purchases until you reach the maximum reimbursement for each stage.
