Support Clients with Medication Skill Set
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to assist clients with medication and to complete medication documentation.
It also teaches how to support clients in self-administering their medication.
This course is fee free* for residents of Western Australia. Some eligibility conditions apply for the fee free training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information. *Please note that eligibility requirements apply to some of the fee free training.
Overview
Study Mode On Campus
This unit will be delivered at different locations over a period of three days.
For Karratha Students, the unit will be delivered over two days at TAFE, and the one day work placement will be at Yaandina Community Services in Roebourne.
For Port Hedland students, the unit will be delivered over two days at TAFE South Hedland campus. The one day work placement will be at Karlarra House Aged Care Facility, also located in South Hedland.
You will gain skills in:
- Interpreting and applying current legislation & regulations
- Understanding the Poisons schedule
- Determining the various roles, responsibilities, and lines of authority
- Identifying medications and their associated routes
- Identify and describe medication terminology
- Identifying and managing medication contingencies
- Identifying and administering various routes of administration
- Identifying regular medications and as required medication
Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment on successful completion.
