Heavy Vehicle Driving Operations Skill Set
Gain the skills and knowledge to prepare for your heavy vehicle licence.
Gain the essential knowledge and hands-on training needed to operate a heavy rigid (HR) vehicle. This short course covers both theory and practical driving instruction to help you get licensed and job-ready.
Please note: Our HR truck training and assessment is conducted in a vehicle with a synchromesh gearbox. This means your licence will have a ‘B’ restriction, allowing you to drive HR vehicles with automatic or synchromesh gearboxes only.
This course is fee free* for residents of Western Australia. Some eligibility conditions apply for the fee free training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information. *Please note that eligibility requirements apply to some of the fee free training.

Students will gain the theoretical knowledge and practical driving instruction required to operate a Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicle in WA. Training will be delivered in a variety of conditions and locations, guided by qualified, experienced instructors.
Upon successful completion of the skillset, students will be able to attempt their PDA to obtain their HR-B licence, allowing you to drive HR vehicles with automatic or synchromesh gearboxes only.
