Gain the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a boom-type Elevating Work Platform (EWP), where the length of the boom is 11 metres or more.

The EWP Skill Set is a three day course where you will learn how to operate an EWP safely and efficiently in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements.

This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information. 

*Please note that eligibility requirements apply to some of the low fee training.

Undertaking theory and practical activities, participants will be guided through the operation of an EWP, ensuring:

  • hazards and risk elimination/control strategies
  • conduct routine checks
  • set up an elevating work platform
  • operate an elevating work platform in a safe manner
  • safely shut down and secure the elevating work platform.

The three-day course may also be shortened with prior industry knowledge or machine experience.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment. NR TAFE will submit an Application for High Risk Work Licence (Class WP) on your behalf, providing all requirements are met. The three-day course may also be shortened with prior industry knowledge or machine experience.

You will need to provide the following PPE for the practical assessments:

  • Hi-Vis Long sleeve shirt
  • Long Pants
  • Steel Cap Boots
