There is a growing demand for skilled community services workers in the North West to support the increase in community services agencies. Community services workers require a diverse set of skills to respond to increasingly complex client care needs, provide crisis support, manage caseloads, develop programs and prevention and intervention strategies.
This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills initiative, from 1 January 2020 through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. This qualification provides you with the skills to develop, implement and evaluate programs, secure and manage funding, case-manage clients in a community services setting, and lead a community services team. Throughout this course, you will develop specialised skills in community services care and gain the knowledge to support colleagues in a supervisory or team management capacity.
You will undertake training in three sections: program development, case management and team leadership. This course provides an affordable entry pathway into university study in an approved social work degree.
Throughout this course, you will gain skills in:
- Developing, implementing and evaluating programs
- Securing and managing funding
- Case-managing clients in a community services setting
- Leading a community services team
This course is designed for people wishing to expand their career in Community Services into leadership and management roles. Students will either be already working in a leadership role within their organisation or be able to complete a practicum at a suitable community services workplace.
