TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

This program provides essential skills and the Certification required for training roles within Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and structured assessment settings. It is designed for individuals passionate about sharing their expertise. Students will learn to develop, deliver, and assess impactful training programs confidently, gaining the knowledge necessary to foster learning in various environments.

This course is fee free* for residents of Western Australia. Some eligibility conditions apply for the fee free training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information. *Please note that eligibility requirements apply to some of the fee free training.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment equips students with the skills and Certification needed to launch a rewarding career in vocational education and training.
Participants will learn to design engaging training plans and deliver effective skill-based instruction. Throughout this course, students will discover how to design, contextualise, and facilitate training tailored to individual and organisational needs, all while adhering to industry and quality standards.
Students will also gain valuable knowledge to foster learning across diverse environments. They will enhance their professional practice through competence-based assessment that aligns with a National Framework. Through engaging workshops and workplace-based learning, students will be prepared to make a significant impact on the lives of learners. Graduates often pursue careers as VET Trainers or Assessors and Workplace Trainers, applying their expertise to empower others and support their success.
Students undertaking this course will develop skills in:
- Developing and undertaking presentations and providing instructions
- Facilitating learning in a work based environment
- Interpreting and applying training packages and recognised training products
- Designing plans for training
- Assessing and validating competence
- Working within a regulatory framework

You can demonstrate vocational competence in your intended training and assessing area, meaning you bring industry experience relevant to the course units. For guidance on this requirement, reach out to your lecturer on campus.

You are comfortable with computer and digital literacy tasks, such as using Microsoft Office to create documents and conducting internet research.

You have strong communication, interpersonal, and research skills that support effective engagement in training.

You have a stable internet connection, along with access to a computer, printer, and scanner.

You have access to a real workplace where you can facilitate learning as part of your assessments.

You have at least six people (friends, family, or colleagues) who can participate as learners in your training and assessments.

You’re prepared to commit approximately 200-300 hours to structured, out-of-class activities and assessments.
