At this level, workers may be involved in facilitation of learning for a range of instructional groupings, including for those students in need of additional support. In these roles, the education support worker sources and analyses information from diverse sources, may work with limited direct supervision and could provide guidance to other workers.
Education assistants and Special needs education assistants work in all schools throughout the Kimberley and Pilbara.
Please note that course intakes have closed for 2026. Students are welcome to enrol in the Entry into Education Support Skill Set, with the next intake commencing on 12 October 2026 (Term 4).

Students must be based in the Kimberley or Pilbara region to enrol in this qualification, in order to satisfy the supervised work placement assessment criteria.

This course is suited to you if:
- You are looking to become an Education assistant / Education support worker
- You are already employed as an Education assistant / Education support worker
- You hold a Certificate III in School Based Education Support or substantial experience as an Education assistant / Education support worker
Possible triggers in this course have been identified as;
- Discussion of child abuse, neglect, mandatory reporting obligations
- Exposure to student behavioural incidents (aggression, conflict, exclusion)
- Topics related to disability, learning difficulties, or additional needs
- Cultural content relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories
- Reflection on personal schooling experiences or past trauma
- Workplace situations involving bullying, harassment, or power dynamics
- Stress associated with assessment observation during work placement
- Feelings of inadequacy or anxiety due to LLND demands or workplace expectations
- Experiences of racism, bias, or cultural misunderstanding (particularly in diverse environments)
- Exposure to health and safety risks or incident scenarios
