Jumpstart your career in the aged care industry with this exciting Qualification, where you'll help empower clients, champion their rights, and make a real difference in their lives!
Throughout this course, students will learn how to develop, facilitate and review individualised service planning and delivery within a residential, home and/or community-based environment.
Students will also learn how to provide a range of specialised care to clients, including palliative, dementia and supporting older people at risk. Students will learn how to support relationships with family and carers, manage legal and ethical compliance, undertake safe work practices and maintain collaborative networks and partnerships.
Please be aware that COVID-19 vaccination is an employment requirement for many healthcare providers. NRTAFE students undertaking work placements or who are required to attend a healthcare or community setting as part of their studies are advised to check directly with the healthcare provider regarding their policy settings around vaccination and proof of vaccination requirements.
Throughout this course, you will gain skills in:
- Plan, develop, implement and monitor programs and services for seniors
- Assess the needs of older people with complex circumstances
- Plan and conduct group and recreation programs for seniors
- Monitor services, implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures and organise an effective work environment
In order to make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, you must take into account the essential skills and knowledge required to undertake this study.
- Excellent observational skills - to be able to identify changes in behaviour, abilities and environment
- Good communication skills to liaise/work with a range of people
- Good listening and writing skills
- Be able to deal with physical demands of manual tasks including personal care work and lifting
- Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to respond to immediate safety risks
- Tolerance, patience and the willingness to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures
