Students will explore art theory and history, and create original works inspired by their research and personal responses. This Qualification provides foundational skills in visual arts and crafts, preparing students for a diverse range of career opportunities.

 
Throughout this course, students will engage in knowledge assessments and hands-on tasks using a variety of artistic mediums.
 
Classes are typically offered in the evenings and are subject to industry demand. It’s recommended to complete one or two units per term for optimal progress.

Throughout the course you will gain skills in:

  • Basic drawing techniques
  • Art Theory and History
  • Design Process
  • Sculptural skills
  • Ceramics
  • Textiles
  • Occupational Safety and Health

You will:

  • create two and three dimensional forms in a variety of formats 
  • learn how to visualise, develop and present ideas and images
  • discuss the visual arts analytically and appreciatively
  • constructively evaluate your own work and that of others.

You will also learn skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and design.

  • You have some industry experience or have completed units from qualifications or skill sets in the creative industries
  • You have some form of art experience from either participating in an arts event, gained informal learning experiences from watching online art videos, attended weekend workshops or even participated in a home model based micro business.

This program of training is delivered over a period of 12-18 month period with up to 10 hours per week of study, including face to face training, self-paced study and research and practice in own time.
