AHC30722 Certificate III in Horticulture

The Certificate III in Horticulture can help set you up for a career as a gardener, landscaper, groundskeeper, irrigation or nursery officer.
This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

Throughout this course, students will learn how to propagate and maintain nursery plants, install and maintain irrigation systems, treat weeds, pests and diseases safely, and use a range of horticultural equipment.
Students will also learn about effective pruning, working safely with chemicals, identifying various plants and improving soil conditions.
Passionate and highly skilled lecturers will guide you through each unit of study and also share their extensive industry experience with prospective students. This course is designed to give you the practical skills and knowledge to work effectively in both the private and public sectors, including local and state governments.
If you already possess some industry experience, this course will broaden and enhance your skills and knowledge.
To coordinate tasks and possibly other staff, becoming autonomous in your role and completing the following duties:
- Controlling weeds, plant pests, diseases and disorders
- Maintaining nursery plants
- Operating and troubleshooting irrigation systems
- Implementing soil improvements
- Chemical handling and application
- You are already working in the industry or have considerable gardening experience (domestic/industry)
- Enjoy working outside and being in nature
- Comfortable being exposed to varied weather conditions
- Enjoy manual labour and physical work
- Keen interest in horticulture and land management industries
