MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Machining)
Get qualified in a mechanical trade.
The Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade must be completed as part of a of a four-year indentured apprenticeship, and upon successful completion, allows participants to work in a mechanical trade. Apprentices will learn through a combination of on-the-job employment and block training at North Regional TAFE.
This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

Study Mode Apprenticeship
Throughout this course, participants will be guided through the design, assembly, manufacture, installation, modification, testing, fault finding, commissioning, maintenance and service of all mechanical equipment, machinery, fluid power systems, stationary and mobile equipment, instruments, refrigeration, and the use of computer controlled machine tools.
Participants will learn how to perform some of the following tasks:
- Engineering measurements and computations
- Manual heating and thermal cutting
- Routine manual metal arc welding
- Routine gas metal arc welding
- Maintenance of machines and equipment
- Fault diagnosis
- Manual handling
- Handle a range of tools
- Dismantle, replace and assembly of engineering components
