The Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician must be completed as part of an apprenticeship, and upon successful completion, allows participants to work as a qualified electrician. ​​

This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

Apprentices will learn through a combination of employment and block training at North Regional TAFE.

This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises. It includes ERAC requirements for an ‘Electrician’s licence’.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Fabricate, dismantle, assemble of utilities industry components
  • Fix and secure electrotechnology equipment
  • Solve problems in d.c. circuits, low voltage a.c. circuits, electromagnetic devices and related circuits
  • Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage machines and electrical apparatus and circuits
  • Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications
  • Apply environmental and sustainable procedures in the energy sector
  • Install low voltage wiring and accessories
  • Install appliances, switchgear and verify compliance and functionality of low voltage general electrical installations
  • Develop and connect electrical control circuits
  • Trouble-shoot and repair faults in low voltage electrical apparatus and circuits
