Students can elect to focus on Indigenous land management, conservation earthworks, lands, parks and wildlife, or natural area management.

Throughout this course, students will complete written assignments and work in teams to undertake programs that assist in maintaining the natural environment. Participants will gain practical skills in occupational health and safety, fire management, biodiversity surveying, mapping and understanding remote operations.

PLEASE NOTE: An updated version of this Qualification is being introduced in 2025. As we are committed to providing you with industry ready Qualifications, new students will be enrolled in the latest version.

Throughout the course, you will gain skills in:

  • Conducting ecological and cultural site inspections
  • Reading and interpreting maps
  • Application and transportation of chemicals
  • Treating pest, disease and weeds
  • Coordinating work site activities and implement property repairs and construction
  • Construct and repair tracks and fire breaks
  • Maintaining native ecosystems
  • Collecting native seeds
  • You want to gain entry to or progress you career in the Conservation and Ecosystem Management industry                                                                                           
  • You are a trainee or employee working in the Conservation and Land Management industry                                                                       
  • You have experience with 4WD vehicles for training
  • You have reasonable physical ability and strength to be able change 4WD tyres and perform minor vehicle maintenance                               
  • Enjoyment of practical work and working in varied weather conditions outdoor
  • Enjoyment of nature and the outdoors                                                                                      
  • A passion for conservation, ecosystems and the environment                                  
  • High fitness levels and able to carry out manual work

The course is delivered both on campus for theoretical components as well as off site on country such as remote Indigenous communities or students work sites.
