Through this qualification, students will master critical skills such as planning and coordinating feeding programs, monitoring aquatic stock health, and managing hatchery operations. They’ll also learn to implement biosecurity measures that are essential for protecting aquatic environments and ensuring sustainability.

This rapidly expanding industry offers numerous career opportunities, from working on offshore and onshore farms to aquarium wholesalers and live post-harvest holding facilities. With an emphasis on environmental stewardship, students can take on roles that directly impact ocean health and community sustainability. Graduates will leave with a strong foundation, ready for a rewarding career in aquaculture.

Please note: This course is available exclusively to trainees or those already employed in the aquaculture industry.

Throughout this course, you will gain skills in: 

  • Communicating in aquaculture work environments 
  • Occupational health and safety assessment and reporting  
  • Monitoring a range of Stock Handling activities 
  • Monitoring Stock Feeding programs and activities  
  • Monitoring and maintaining water quality  
  • Hatchery operations
  • Assessment and reporting of biosecurity, predator, and pest controls

This certificate is suited to students who are planning for a traineeship or you're currently employed in the industry:

  • Communicating in aquaculture work environments 
  • Occupational health and safety assessment and reporting  
  • Monitoring a range of Stock Handling activities 
  • Monitoring Stock Feeding programs and activities  
  • Monitoring and maintaining water quality  
  • Hatchery operations
  • Assessment and reporting of biosecurity, predator, and pest controls

Training is undertaken in conjunction with Traineeship or existing work schedules.

Face to face delivery will include activities such as: 

  • Video Conferencing, which focusses on essential knowledge to enhance practical understanding
  • Practical (hands-on) activities are undertaken in the workplace according to existing production plans
  • Students needing additional support between blocks can request access to our online learning
    resources.
