The North West cattle industry provides a vast area of employment for young stockmen and stockwomen. This entry-level course could lead you on an exciting path from stockman to head stockman and eventually, station manager.
This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

Throughout this course, students will undertake a combination of written assignments and hands-on tasks including tractor operations, cattle processing and mustering in teams.
Students will gain skills in machine operations, horse husbandry, handling and caring for livestock, treating weeds as well as installing and maintaining fencing.
After completing this course, students will be job-ready for entry-level positions in agriculture, farming, market gardens, and mixed rural enterprises.
This Qualification is taught by industry professionals with extensive experience in rural settings.
This course is currently only delivered to cattle stations and prisons.
Depending on the elective units you select, you will gain skills in:
- Environmentally sustainable work practices
- Work health and safety processes
- Handling and caring for horses and livestock
- Planting, propagation and plant care
- Treating weeds
- Irrigation operations and monitoring water supplies
