The Certificate II in Music Industry is an entry-level qualification, providing participants with strong foundation skills upon which to build musical and production abilities.

Duration 1 Semester

Students will receive an introduction to the music business, gain technical skills on their instrument of specialisation and learn the basics of audio engineering, including recording.

Participants will also build their ensemble skills, working with fellow students to rehearse and perform music. Upon completion of this qualification, students will have a good understanding of the music industry and best practices.

  • Discover how the performing arts industry works—from roles and pathways to creative practices and professional standards.
  • Step onto the stage! Learn how to play and perform basic musical pieces with confidence and style.
  • Experience the magic of group performance—learn to rehearse, blend, and shine as part of a musical team.
  • Develop your ability to interpret and perform music using written scores.
  • Step into the studio and gain practical experience supporting live and recorded sound projects.
  • You have some basic experience and want to develop further skills in the music industry.
  • You are interested in a career in the music industry, musicians, roadies, studio assistants and sound assistants.
  • You want to develop your skills for performing in front of and engaging with an audience.
  • You have some existing computer skills to be able to navigate the internet.
