The TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set provides students with the skills to assess and improve vocational educational training.

This course teaches participants how to assess competency, improve training, and work independently in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Including:

  • Plan, prepare, and conduct assessments using nationally recognised training products
  • Conducting competency-based assessment
  • Managing robust validations of training products.

For participants with a secondary education degree, your existing qualifications and experience can help you become a trainer and assessor in the VET sector. Take the next step today!

This course is designed for individuals aiming to work in training or assessment roles, such as a VET lecturer at an RTO, workplace assessor, trainer, or mentor. To succeed in this program, you should meet the following criteria:
 
  • You can demonstrate vocational competence in your intended training and assessing area, meaning you bring industry experience relevant to the course units. For guidance on this requirement, reach out to your lecturer on campus.
  • You are comfortable with computer and digital literacy tasks, such as using Microsoft Office to create documents and conducting internet research.
  • You have strong communication, interpersonal, and research skills that support effective engagement in training.
  • You have a stable internet connection, along with access to a computer, printer, and scanner.
  • You have access to a real workplace where you can facilitate learning as part of your assessments.
  • You have at least six people (friends, family, or colleagues) who can participate as learners in your training and assessments.
  • You’re prepared to commit approximately 200-300 hours to structured, out-of-class activities and assessments.
